Combat Off Road Tail Lights
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly are your tail lights made of? Plastic? Steel? Aluminum?
What exactly are your tail lights made of? Plastic? Steel? Aluminum?
Our Tail Gunner Tail Lights are made from stamped 5052 aluminum. This means that they're corrosion resistant and durable.
Aluminum is obviously more durable than plastic, especially when you're rock crawling or on the trail. Plastic is great for Barbies, not for Jeep parts.
Some companies make their flush mount tail lights out of bent steel. Not only is steel heavier & more prone to corrosion than aluminum, bending the steel can create structural weakness at every bend.
By using stamped aluminum, we can ensure that every one of our Tail Gunner Tail Light housing is exactly the same, every single time.
Do these work with Blind Spot Monitoring?
Do these work with Blind Spot Monitoring?
Jeep's Blind Spot Monitoring system is not compatible with our Tail Gunner Tail Lights on both the Wrangler JL and the Gladiator JT.
Will we have a version that will work with the Blind Spot Monitoring sensors? Our engineers are working on it and it will be released when it meets our high standards for quality & esthetics. Keep an eye on our social media & sign up for our newsletter for updates.
Note:
If you choose to disable the blind spot monitoring system with a tuner, programmer or any other computer interface device (i.e. Tazer from Z Automotive, Superchips Flashcal+, etc), Combat Off Road does not accept any responsibility or liability for the compromise of the safety features or any injury, damages, claims, expenses, or responsibility that may be caused or alleged to be caused, in whole or in part, by the removal of those features.

Our Tail Gunner Tail Light LED lights are SAE/DOT approved - you're good to go!
What do I do with this resistor?
What do I do with this resistor?
If you have a Jeep with the factory LED option, you can remove the resistor from the harness and cap the harness with the included black plugs.
If you have the factory Halogen option, leave the resistor in the harness. Do you own a Tazer? Remove the resistor and use the Tazer to change the settings to LED.
Important note: the resistor will get VERY hot. That's what resistors do. Please ensure that the resistor is kept away from the harness. Any heat damage caused by the resistor is not covered under warranty.
I can put together IKEA shelves. Can I install these lights?
I can put together IKEA shelves. Can I install these lights?
Absolutely.
The install time for a novice will be around 1 to 1.5 hours or less. Minimal tools are required and no drilling or soldering is necessary.
Do I need a Tazer?
Do I need a Tazer?
You don't NEED a Tazer.
If you have a JK, you're good to go, plug and play.
If you have a JL or JT, having a Tazer gives you options, so it's definitely a nice thing to have. Since the Tazer can switch your Jeep's settings from Halogen to LED, that will allow you to remove the resistor from the harness - not having the Tazer removes the possibility of damaging your harness if you don't keep the resistor separate.
Additionally, some 2023 and newer JL models with the factory LED option may display an in-dash bulb-out error due to variations in PCM voltage tables. This does not affect tail light performance and can be corrected using JScan or a Tazer Mini.
Plus the Tazer is great if you're ever going to regear your Jeep and has tons of other uses.
So do you NEED one? Nope.
Is it worth having? We have them in both our JL & JT.
