Off-the-Turnbuckle Hood Latches - Jeep JK/JL/JT

- 13mm wrenches

Step 1 — Remove Factory Hood Latches
Open hood of Jeep making sure to secure it so that it does not fall on you or a teammate.
Use a 10mm socket & ratchet to remove the upper factory latch assembly from the hood.
Use a 13mm socket & ratchet to remove the lower factory latch assembly.
Repeat on other side.
Step 2 — Assemble & Install Upper Mounting Bracket
Align your new upper mounting bracket with the base plate and install with the supplied M6 bolts, washer and nuts.
Using a 4mm hex key and 10mm socket, tighten the hardware once properly aligned with hood features and body lines.
Repeat for opposite side.
Step 3 — Disassemble Lower Bracket
In order to mount the new lower bracket, it will need to be taken apart.
Using a 6mm hex key, remove the retaining bolt and spacer. This will allow you to access the mounting hole to attach the lower bracket to the vehicle.
Step 4 — Install Lower Mounting Bracket
Align the lower mount with the body using the M8 bolt, washer and nut. Using a 5mm hex key and 13mm socker, tighten the hardware.
Reinstall the turnbuckle, sleeves and hardware to the lower mount using a 6mm hex key. Tighten the hardware
Repeat for opposite side.
Note: The retaining lanyard can face the front or rear on the Jeep JK. On a JL or JT, it must be positioned forward.

Step 5 — Close Hood
Close the hood in preparation for the next step.
Important Note: Make sure that the turnbuckles are laid out onto the fender. Failure to do so prior to closing the hood can result in damage to the hood.
Step 6 — Adjust the Turnbuckle
Adjust the turnbuckle length by rotating the main body until the quick release pin can be placed into the upper mount through the rod end.
Snug the hood up to the desired gap between the hood and fender by rotating the turnbuckle body.
Tighten the jam nuts on each end to the main body using the 13mm wrenches.
Note: The main body uses Left Hand and Right Hand threads. Ensure both are tight.
Test out the adjustment by removing and reinstalling the quick release pins from the upper mounts. You may need to apply downward pressure on the hood

Notes & Maintenance
Before you being installation, read all instructions thoroughly.
Proper tools will improve the quality of installation and reduce the time required.
For black finishes, mild soap may be used to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish.
Periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
